We are pleased to present another completed project. We installed a modern system for one of our clients. SKYTWIN roller-screen – a solution that combines functionality, aesthetics, and comfort of use. This project is an excellent example of how modern shading technologies can effectively improve thermal and visual comfort in buildings.
SkyTwin – combination of a standard roller blind with a reflector
SkyTwin This innovative window covering combines the classic roller blind with a reflective roller blind. This allows for complete control over light, privacy, and room temperature.
Key Features:
- Dual functionality
- Standard roller blind:
- Complete blackout – perfect for a bedroom, media room or office.
- Acoustic insulation – partially dampens outside noise.
- Privacy – completely shields the interior from outside views.
- Refleksol:
- It reflects sunlight and UV rays, protecting the interior from heating and fading furniture.
- Reduces excessive sunlight, leaving a pleasant, diffused light.
- Standard roller blind:
- Light and privacy control
- Flexible control – from complete blackout to gentle light dispersion.
- Possibility to adjust the cover to current needs during the day.
- Aesthetics and design
- Minimalist, modern look that suits a variety of interiors.
- Various colors and fabrics, from blackout to transparent.
- Energy efficiency and comfort
- Refleksola reflects heat, reducing room heating.
- The standard roller shutter supports thermal insulation in winter and results in lower air conditioning costs in summer.
- Easy to install and use
- Installation in standard window frames.
- Manual or electric control, depending on the model, with the option of remote control via an application.
Why choose the SKYTWIN system?
- Comfortable blackout thanks to a standard roller blind.
- Sun and UV protection thanks to Reflectol.
- Flexible adjustment of the amount of light to your needs.
- Increased energy efficiency for your home or office.
- Modern design that suits a variety of interiors.
The scope of our implementation
After selecting the appropriate solution, we began implementation. Our work included precise measurements and advice on selecting the SKYTWIN system, professional installation of roller blinds and screens, and configuration of automatic controls for convenient management of solar radiation levels.
The use of the system allowed for a modern, elegant appearance of the façade, while significantly improving the thermal and visual comfort inside the building.
Heat transfer coefficient (Uw) test results
In order to objectively confirm the effectiveness of the applied solution, the system provider performed tests according to the standard PE-EN ISO 12567-1:2010.
The test was carried out on a window with dimensions of 1230 × 1480 mm in the system MB-86N Aluprof, with triple glazing 4/18/4/18/4 and warm frame.
The system used SKYTWIN with PA39 slatted roller blind and fabric screen Serge 600 001001.
| Measurement | Configuration | Uw result [W/m²K] | Change from base window |
| 1 | Window without blinds | 0,852 | 100% |
| 2 | Window + blinds down | 0,739 | −13% |
| 3 | Window + screen down | 0,839 | −1% |
| 4 | Window + blind and screen down | 0,701 | −18% |
Analysis of the results clearly shows that the use of the SKYTWIN system improves the thermal insulation of the entire assembly. When the roller shutter and screen are lowered simultaneously, the Uw coefficient is reduced by as much as 18%It is worth emphasizing, however, that the study only refers to the heat transfer coefficient and not to parameters related to solar radiation.
Properties of screen fabrics
To fully understand the system's effectiveness, it's important to examine the performance of screen fabrics. Each fabric is characterized by three main components of its radiation balance:
- Rs (Solar Reflection) – the amount of energy reflected from the fabric,
- As (Solar Absorption) – the amount of energy absorbed by the fabric,
- ST (Solar Transmission) – the amount of energy that passes into the interior.
The relationship between them is described by the equation: Rs + As + ST = 100%.
In practice, this means that the higher the reflection coefficient (Rs), the less heating occurs inside.
The color of the fabric is crucial:
- light fabrics (e.g. white, sand, gray) are characterized by high reflection and low ST coefficient (approx. 5–10%),
- dark fabrics (e.g. graphite, black) have lower reflection but higher optical translucency – ST is usually 10-15%.
Total energy transmission coefficient – gtot
Another important parameter describing the behavior of sunshades is External Solar Factor (ESF), also called gtotIt determines the total amount of solar energy that penetrates the interior after taking into account the influence of the glass, fabric, and the position of the cover.
| Partition type | ST | ESF (gtot) | Effect |
| Double glazing without cover | ~ 0.75 | ~ 0.75 | High thermal gains |
| Glass + external screen bright | 0.05–0.10 | 0.07–0.15 | Very good protection |
| Glass + dark inner fabric | 0.10–0.20 | 0.25–0.35 | Moderate protection |
This comparison shows how important the location of the cover is – external screen systems provide the best protection against interior overheating.
On-site assembly – the solution used
In the analyzed implementation, fabric was used Serge Ferrari Soltis Veozip 7605-51185, with the following parameters:
- ST = 9%
- RS = 50%
- AS = 41%
- TV nh = 8%
- gtot = 0.04 (for 4+16+4 glass with argon, g = 0.32, U = 1.1)
In practice, this means that only 8% visible light and 9% solar energyThese values confirm the very high effectiveness of sun protection while maintaining the elegant appearance of the facade.
Conclusions and Summary
To sum up, the SKYTWIN system with fabric used Soltis Veozip 7605-51185 It provides exceptional thermal and visual protection. By reflecting approximately half of solar radiation and reducing energy transmission to 9%, interiors remain comfortable even on hot days.
This system is the ideal solution for those who value functionality, durability, and modern aesthetics. Our clients are already enjoying a pleasant indoor climate – regardless of outdoor conditions.
